- (sa) pramāṇa. Measure, capacity, length, ability; to measure, deliberate; a syllogism in logic, v. [lang id =1028]比量. A syllogism, consisting of [lang id =1028]宗 (sa) pratijñā, proposition; [lang id =1028]因 (sa) hetu, reason; [lang id =1028]喻 (sa) udāharaṇa, example; but the syllogism varies in the number of its (sa) avayava, or members. There are other divisions from 2 to 6, e.g. [lang id =1028]現量 and [lang id =1028]比量 direct or sense inferences, and comparative or logical inferences; to these are added [lang id =1028]聖教量 arguments based on authority; [lang id =1028]譬喻量 analogy; [lang id =1028]義准 postulation, or general assent; and [lang id =1028]無體 negation, or non-existence.* * *量的詮釋有廣狹二義, 狹義而言, 量是認識, 是知識, 亦是測量之意。 量有量果, 即認識作用的結果。 亦可說是知識或知識的內容;廣義而言, 則指認識作用的形式、 過程、 結果, 及判斷知識真偽之標准等。 印度自古以來, 在認知范疇中, 一般皆將量知對象加以認識論證, 泛稱為量。 此量知的主體, 稱為能量;被量知的事物, 稱為所量;量知的結果, 或了知其結果, 稱為量果。 以上三者稱為三量。
